Styrene-butadiene-styrene (SBS) block copolymer is a thermoplastic elastomer that combines the elasticity of rubber and the processability of plastic. It is widely used in the following fields:
Sole material: SBS is often used in the soles of sports shoes and casual shoes due to its high elasticity, wear resistance and skid resistance, providing comfort and durability.
Modified asphalt: SBS added to asphalt can significantly improve its performance, such as high temperature resistance to rutting, low temperature resistance to cracking, and extend the service life of the road. It is especially suitable for areas with high loads or large temperature differences.
Hot melt adhesive: used for packaging tapes, book binding, woodworking glue, etc., fast curing and environmentally friendly (solvent-free), suitable for automated production lines.
Sealants: such as door and window seals, provide flexibility and weather resistance.
Tougheners: blended with plastics such as PP and PS to improve impact resistance, used for parts that require high toughness such as car bumpers and home appliance housings.
Toys, handles, sports equipment: non-toxic, easy to shape, suitable for manufacturing grips, toy parts or yoga mats, etc., taking into account safety and comfort.
Medical catheters, gloves: Some medical-grade SBS is used for flexible devices and must meet biocompatibility standards.
Waterproof membrane: used for building roof waterproofing layer, aging-resistant and easy to construct.
Cable sheath: provides insulation and flexibility.
Convenient processing: can be formed by conventional plastic processes such as injection molding and extrusion, without vulcanization.
Recyclability: can be repeatedly heated and reshaped, supporting environmentally friendly production.
